Salmon in the Classroom 2023

Nov 8, 2023 | Club News, Fishing

The Kitsap Poggie Club is once again sponsoring Salmon in the Classroom programs at four local elementary and high schools. The Kitsap Poggie Club provides equipment to raise salmon eggs as well as sourcing “eyed up” salmon eggs from the Grovers Creek Salmon Hatchery, where the eyes of developing fish are visible through the shell of the egg. We support the schools while the eggs are raised and coordinate a field trip in early spring to release the salmon into local creeks.

The list of schools participating in the program this year are Sunnyslope Elementary, South Colby Elementary, Burley Glenwood Elementary and South Kitsap High School.
